ColdFusion Open-Source Update - January 26, 2010

Two new projects and two updates this week in ColdFusion open source. This was a relatively quiet week for some reason. My guess is that most open source developers were distracted by either the Conan/Leno mess or trying to get the skinny on Brangelina. I really can't see any other logical reason. Thankfully, those topics seem to have quieted down and open source developers can get back to the business of new releases.

Fusebox
Fusebox still the most used framework
I have a bone to pick with this post by Micheal Smith since the title makes it sound definitive and the actual truth isn't. The statement is based upon tentative results from a survey conducted by CFUnited/Teratech which had only 600 or so responses at the time it was written. Its entirely possible that this statement is true but we don't have actual numbers to back it up and this survey is far from scientific (my own belief is that its more likely homegrown frameworks as a group are more popular but that's just based on anecdotal observation).

Comments
Chris Peters
I am constantly befuddled that everyone thinks that blog readers and conference goers are the representative audience for CFML. A lot of the developers that socialize on the Web get stuck in their Twitter, blog, and conference bubbles and lose sight on reality.

I think that anyone who answered this survey are the "smart kids" of the CFML community. I know MANY MANY MANY CFML developers that never touch blogs or conferences because they don't have the time/desire. On that count, I agree that this survey isn't scientific in any way, but it is fun to look at! (Hoping to see that Wheels number grow over the coming years.)
