Posted on Jun 18, 2013

PhoneGap Day 2013 is officially one month away. For those of you interested in developing apps with PhoneGap or already working with it on a regular basis, this is a great (and fun) learnng event. This year, it is even bigger, featuring pre-conference workshops. The PhoneGap Essentials workshop is already sold out, but there is still room in the PhoneGap Ecosystem workshop, so act fast! Tickets for each day only run $50, so you could get two days worth of fun and training for $100 - seriously, you cannot beat that! Of course, there are great speakers lined up as well. This event usually sells out, so grab your tickets soon!

Build Your First Mobile App with PhoneGap Build

Posted on May 03, 2013

As many of you know, I recently launched a new web site for articles and tutorials covering web and mobile development called Flippin' Awesome. One of the features I've been releasing over the last month was a detailed 7 part series I wrote covering how to build a mobile app using jQuery Mobile and PhoneGap Build. This was based on a workshop I gave at Web Unleashed last year and walks through in detail every step of the process. It only assumes you have some web development experience and does not require any prior experience building mobile apps or using PhoneGap.

If you are looking for a way to get started, please check it out. All seven parts are listed below.

Create Your First Mobile App with PhoneGap Build

  1. Setup
  2. Using PhoneGap Build
  3. Connecting to an API
  4. Adding jQuery Mobile
  5. Adding Pages with jQuery Mobile
  6. Using the Storage API
  7. Using the Nofication API

I wanted to take a moment to share all the articles we published on these topics over the last year. Hopefully, after seeing the list, as well as the amazing authors who contributed, you'll agree that we achieved that goal.
